African Barn Owl

No - not an impressive recovery unfortunately. Just been digging around in some old photos and found this pic which I thought folk would be interested in. It's a Barn Owl of the race poensis from my Zambian years. Rather different looking beast isn't it? They were very common but very strictly nocturnal and hardly ever seen in the day. In rodent plague years they would have astoundingly big broods too. My record was 18...
